Driver's license, State ID card, US Passport, Military ID, Other government IDs: Federal, state, county, or local government-issued photo IDs, as well as permanent resident cards ("green cards") or unexpired foreign passports.
Note:
Please bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. The name on your ID should match the name on the document being notarized. Photocopies, screenshots, or photos of your ID are not accepted.
If your name has changed or does not match your document, please contact JVAN Services before your appointment to discuss acceptable options.

No. As a Notary Public, I cannot select or recommend a type of notarization for you, as doing so may be considered legal advice. You will need to confirm the required notarial act with the person or organization that provided or will receive the document.
Once you know what type of notarization is required, I’ll be happy to assist with completing the notarial process.

No. Please do not sign your document before your appointment. Any signature requiring notarization should be completed in the presence of the Notary Public.

Yes! JVAN Services offers electronic and remote online notarization through Proof, formerly known as Notarize. This secure online platform allows eligible documents to be notarized virtually from the convenience of your home or office.

Advance scheduling is strongly encouraged, as same-day and last-minute appointments are not guaranteed.

Electronically, yes, over the phone, no. In order to notarize your documents virtually, NYS Notary Publics must be able to see you in real-time, using a state-approved live video notarization platform. Notarizations over the phone are prohibited.

Yes, but only if you are in the state of New York. If you are not located in the state of New York, your documents will need to be notarized electronically or by a notary in the state or country where you are located.
